Chapter 72

"Stop!" A sharp command rang out. Luna White felt her wrist seized in a firm grip. Turning in surprise, she found Andrew Smith standing behind her, pulling her decisively toward General Charles Turner.

Her heart skipped a beat. Him again!

This PLA officer seemed to appear out of nowhere whenever trouble arose—like some kind of human radar drawn to chaos.

"Uncle Charles, I've witnessed Luna save lives with my own eyes," Andrew declared in a steady, authoritative voice. "Last time, she revived a heart attack victim with just a few acupuncture needles. Given Nathaniel's critical condition, forgive my bluntness, but even as a last resort, you should let her try."

His words were brutally honest, causing visible discomfort among those present.

Richard Adams stomped his foot in outrage. "Andrew! Have you lost your mind? After all our family's shared history, you'd side with this charlatan?"

"Brother-in-law," Andrew met his gaze unflinchingly, "Luna is my fiancée. I've seen her medical skills firsthand—they're genuine."

Luna resisted the urge to facepalm. Could her fiancé be any more straightforward? When no one believed her, he still charged headfirst into the fray.

General Turner's eyes remained tightly shut, his chest heaving. When they finally opened, resolution burned within them.

"Do it," the elder stated decisively.

The military physicians shook their heads disapprovingly. This reckless girl hadn't even properly examined the patient! Nathaniel was hanging by a thread—one wrong move could...

Ignoring the skepticism, Luna swiftly produced her silver needles. "Prepare blankets, hot water bottles, ginger tea with brown sugar, and chocolate—quickly!"

Richard nearly laughed aloud. This wasn't medical treatment—it sounded like remedies for a common cold!

Even General Turner frowned, but Andrew immediately barked orders: "Get those items now!"

Luna marched into the hospital room. The space overflowed with people—five military specialists clustered around the bed, Helen Turner clutching her son's hand desperately, his three sisters weeping uncontrollably.

"Clear the room!" Luna commanded without ceremony. "Only one family member stays."

Helen's head snapped up. "Who are you? What are you doing to my son?"

Andrew stepped forward quickly. "Aunt Helen, this is the doctor we've brought to treat Nathaniel."

Understanding dawned on the sisters, who immediately began guiding their mother out. "Mom, let's wait outside."

"I won't leave!" Helen struggled against them. "The specialists said there's no hope! Where did you find this girl to deceive me? If I miss my son's last—"

"Mom!" Fiona Turner interrupted firmly. "Dad's trying to save him!"

"Maybe she really has some skill," Snow Turner added supportively.

Grace Turner simply took her mother's arm. "Just wait calmly. I'll check on him regularly."

After considerable persuasion, they finally managed to usher out the distraught mother. The five specialists were also politely asked to leave, leaving only Andrew to assist.

"What do you need?" Andrew asked. Though he hadn't witnessed Luna's previous healing session, he'd seen the recovered Paul Jackson afterward.

"Remove his shirt and turn him face down," Luna instructed, already preparing her needles.

Andrew worked efficiently. As the fabric lifted, his breath caught—Nathaniel's ribs protruded starkly after just three days of illness.

The first needle descended. Nathaniel's body twitched slightly before stilling again.

One hour later.

Luna began trembling violently. An unnatural cold seeped from her marrow, as if ice melted within her veins. She despised this sensation but couldn't control it—the inevitable price of using her supernatural ability.

This wasn't ordinary shivering, but a soul-deep freeze that threatened to crystallize her very heart. Thankfully, Andrew's rural remedy from last time had inspired her preventive measures to mitigate the symptoms.

As the thought formed, a thick blanket enveloped her. Andrew worked swiftly, wrapping her completely until not even her fingertips remained exposed.
