Chapter 172

As soon as Ethan White left, David Moore turned to Luna White with a beaming smile.

"Come on, I'll take you to get your work supplies," he said, his tone unusually enthusiastic.

David couldn't help but wonder. The way Robert Thompson had spoken earlier made it clear this newcomer was no ordinary hire—she had been personally placed here by Dean Zhang himself. Such preferential treatment was a dead giveaway of her connections.

Luna followed him to the Traditional Medicine Department office.

The afternoon was quiet, with only two doctors on duty.

"Director, you're here," they quickly stood up.

David gestured to Luna. "This is our new acupuncturist, Dr. Luna White. She'll be joining our department." He turned to an elderly doctor with graying hair. "Dr. Joseph Carter is our senior specialist in traditional medicine and has been overseeing acupuncture. Dr. White's arrival will help lighten the workload."

He then introduced the other two doctors. "This is Dr. Frank Harris. Dr. Harold Martin and Dr. Patrick Lewis are off duty today."

Joseph studied the surprisingly young woman before him, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. "Lisa, please take Dr. White to collect her supplies," he said to a nearby intern.

A ponytailed young woman stepped forward. "Dr. White, I'll show you to the logistics office."

Luna nodded politely to the group. "I look forward to learning from all of you."

Once she left, Frank immediately sidled up to David. "Director, that girl looks younger than my daughter. Is she really a doctor?"

Joseph sipped his tea, smiling but silent. After years at this hospital, he had mastered the art of keeping his thoughts to himself.

"Quiet!" David hissed. "This was Dean Zhang's personal arrangement. Keep your mouth shut!"

Frank shrank back, muttering under his breath, "Just another privileged rich girl here for the resume boost..."

"Listen up," David said sternly. "Make sure she's comfortable, but keep her away from critical cases. Our department is already low-key. As long as she toes the line, there won't be any trouble."

The Traditional Medicine Department at the Ninth Armed Police Hospital was essentially window dressing. Emergency cases went straight to Western medicine—their department mostly handled follow-up therapies for chronic patients.

"Right, so we're basically babysitting a porcelain doll," Frank scoffed.

Joseph remained silent, flipping through patient files with his usual smile.

Meanwhile, Luna collected two brand-new white coats and daily necessities like a washbasin and thermos from logistics. Ethan trailed behind his sister, carrying everything for her.

"Meal vouchers won't be ready until tomorrow after the paperwork's processed," Lisa explained.

Luna thanked her and asked for directions to the faculty apartments. Lisa's eyes widened slightly, but she gave detailed instructions.

At Robert's office, he had the keys ready. "This is for Unit 3, Apartment 203 in Building 5. Let me know if you need anything else."

After thanking him, Luna and Ethan headed to the faculty housing, their arms laden with bags, drawing curious glances along the way.

When they opened the door to the apartment, both siblings froze.

This was no dormitory—it was a fully furnished, modern one-bedroom apartment!

Polished concrete floors, white walls with sky-blue accents. A living room with leather sofas and a color TV, a bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe. Even the kitchen was fully equipped, complete with a brand-new gas stove.

Ethan whistled as he looked around. "This... is way beyond standard accommodations."
