Chapter 382

Andrew's expression turned stern. "He's a soldier. His family name doesn't matter. He volunteered without hesitation, and I'm proud of him." Though he had personal concerns, they paled in comparison to duty.

His heart ached for his most outstanding son, yet he knew no one was more qualified than Andrew. If Andrew said he was ready, then he was. This trust stemmed from Andrew's exceptional military prowess.

"Andrew, it's too dangerous there! You—" Clara's mind was in turmoil. Andrew's deployment had upended her plans. With Diana already at the base, she'd hoped to foster a relationship between them. But how could that happen if he wasn't even there?

Worse, Andrew would discover Dr. White at the frontlines immediately. His sharp mind would see through her scheme in no time. Clara knew Andrew wasn't like his brother—his perception far surpassed ordinary men.

Regret gnawed at her. She'd shot herself in the foot. With her husband in good health, she could've rested easy. Instead, she'd practically delivered Dr. White to Andrew herself.

"Andrew, recall him now! There's still time!" Clara grabbed the phone. "If you won't call, I will!"

"Put it down!" Andrew barked.

Clara's hand jerked, nearly dropping the receiver. In all their years of marriage, he'd never spoken to her like this.

"You're being foolish!" His gaze burned. "He's a soldier first. When the nation calls, he answers. If I recall him today, what stops others from demanding the same for their sons tomorrow?"

He took a deep breath. "I believe he'll return safely. This discussion is over. Don't bring it up again."

Clara paled. It was clear she couldn't stop this. She needed an exit strategy—before Andrew returned to settle the score.
